Spells work on two different levels. The first is through suggestion; words, objects, symbols and images create structured ideas in the subconscious mind, and we are then influenced to actualize those ideas. The physical world is formed by the interactions of energy, if we cause a change in the energy patterns they will cause a change in the physical world. When our own energy is concentrated and channeled, it can move the broader energy currents. The images, words, symbols and objects used in spells are the channels. They are the vessels through which our power and influence over subtle enegries is poured, and by which it is designed. As energies are directed into the images and outcomes which we visualize, it gradually manifests physical form and takes shape in the material world.

With these two aspects of spell casting in mind we can begin to understand how love spells may work. We create in our own minds the blue print for achieving our goals, this comes in the form of changes in attitude, an increase of self confidence and many other changes in the self which work to make us more attractive to the energy of love. In so doing we begin to see the materialization of our intentions.
